Quick definition: The Responsible Organization is the organization or Integrated Product Team (IPT) assigned full responsibility for the scope, schedule, and cost performance of a Control Account or Summary Level Planning Package (SLPP).
Each Control Account or SLPP must be assigned to a single Responsible Organization. It answers for how that scope performs against its budget and schedule, even when other departments do some of the work. In many projects, the Responsible Organization is an IPT.
