Quick definition: A Milestone is a schedule event marking a significant accomplishment, deliverable, or the start or end of a project phase, rather than a task with duration.
Unlike tasks, a Milestone is a single point in time — it has zero duration and no resources assigned to it. Milestones are commonly used to flag key decision points, deliverables, or phase transitions in a schedule.
